Nova Communications, a PR and Social Media consultancy based in San Francisco, was founded by Jennifer Donovan, a seasoned digital PR and brand strategist with more than 20+ years of communications, PR, social media and marketing experience. She has a proven track record for driving industry awareness, value and momentum for her clients.
Prior to founding Nova Communications in 2013, Jennifer was Senior Manager of Social Communications and Senior Global PR Manager for Akamai Technologies. Before Akamai, Jennifer worked at Horn Group, a digital communications agency, working closely with dozens of technology clients. Jennifer served as the President of the Social Media Club of San Francisco for 2 years, designing and managing educational programming events.
Jennifer has deep experience developing and implementing successful consumer and B2B communications programs for companies of all sizes. From billion dollar brands, to small to medium size businesses, she dives in and understands clients’ markets, verticals, competitors and opportunities.
As the lines between traditional PR, Marketing and Social Media continue to merge, I love creating personalized communications strategies and campaigns for clients. My approach involves learning about your business, working closely to define specific goals and objectives, and developing a personalized approach and strategy. Being deeply integrated into the organization and acting as an extension of the internal communications team is critical to success in my book.
One marketing message or approach doesn’t work for every campaign and that inspires me to stay fresh, nimble and innovative every day. My journalism background inspires me to be a storyteller for all my clients. I’m passionate about creativity – everything from brainstorming new ideas and formats to tell a story, developing new approaches to reach influencers, bringing a fresh perspective to an old idea or writing copy that catches someone’s eye. I always look to find ways to clearly communicate client messaging in a way that resonates with people, gives them a new piece of information they feel compelled to share and is memorable.
Having spent 16+ years working in the PR industry, I’ve quickly realized the value of an integrated approach to communication. I work with clients to understand business goals from the executive level and dig deep into activities across the organization from marketing, sales, customer service, product development and more to build comprehensive campaigns that will bring results and benefits across the company.
